How would you rate Gearfrost?
There is a significant discrepancy between the advertised sizing and the actual fit of the product, and the company refuses to offer a return or exchange.
I ordered a Medium for my daughter, which the size chart indicates fits a 31.5" bust, 29.5" waist, and 32.3" hip. However, the chart appears to list the unstretched flat measurements of the garment rather than the body measurements it is designed to fit.
In the swimwear industry, it is standard practice to design suits with “negative ease,” meaning the garment is intentionally cut smaller than the body measurements it is labeled for. The fabric is then expected to stretch to fit snugly. For example, a Speedo size 32 is designed for a person with a 35" bust, 27" waist, and 38" hip. According to your chart, those body measurements would correspond to a Large or 3XL. In reality, the Speedo suit is significantly smaller than the Gearfrost suit in the same labeled size (e.g., a 31.5" unstretched bust measurement is too loose to fit a 31.5" body snugly).
By listing the unstretched garment dimensions instead of the intended body size, the size chart is misleading. A customer relying on your chart to select a size based on their actual body measurements will inevitably receive a suit that is far too small.
I have contacted the company to address this misleading sizing information, but they say the item was made following manufacturing specifications. Gearfrost should update their size chart to reflect industry-standard body measurements and to honor exchanges for customers who were misled by the current sizing data.
